Don’t compare Naira Marley to Fela – Mabiaku

Veteran Musician and producer, Dede Mabiaku has described the comparison between Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley and the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, as inappropriate. According to the News Agency of Nigeria report, Mabiaku slammed fans who described Naira Marley as a rising Fela, adding that it trivalised the essence of Fela’s struggles. He said, “I hear a lot of people comparing that young man to Abami Eda, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Why are you trivialising the essence of your matrys? “Why are you bringing down Fela Anikulapo Kuti? Why are you rubbishing the essence of him in this corridor of nothingness? The boy, was he right in doing what he did? Ask yourself. “Because everything he (Fela) did was based on enlightening the people, wake up the minds of the people for the development of the society the right way with respect and regard for our cultures and traditions,” he said. Davido emerges most viewed Nigerian artiste on YouTube

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the ‘Aye’ singer has amassed over 500 million views across all his uploads on the platform to achieve this feat. In January, Davido’s hit song, ‘Fall’ beat Yemi Alade’s ‘Johnny’ to become the most viewed Nigerian music video on YouTube. He then became the first Nigerian artiste to reach over 100 million views on YouTube racing ahead of Yemi Alade and Tekno. As the head of his label, DMW, Davido’s YouTube page also streams the tracks and videos of his label mates including Mayorkun, Peruzzi and Dremo. Ekiti commissioner on trial for stealing granite

The Police on Wednesday arraigned the Commissioner 2 in the Local Government Service Commission, in Ekiti State, Dare Omotoso, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing granite worth over N5m. According to the charge sheet, Omotoso between August and September 2016 stole granites and stone dust valued at N5, 140, 800.00, belonging to Primadet and Co. Ltd. The offence is contrary to Section 390(9) Criminal Code C16 Laws of Ekiti State 2012. Omotoso, 64, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him. The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, told the court that he had assembled five witnesses to testify against the accused person in the course of the trial. He, however, applied for an adjournment to study the case file and documents relevant to the case. The Defence counsel, O.B. Girl cuts off fiance’s manhood in Jigawa

The incident happened at Ikopa-Tuntun, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, Ogun State, last week Wednesday after Eniola had allegedly lured the victim to her boyfriend’s room where she was drugged and raped. Our correspondent gathered that while the victim was being allegedly raped by Peremobowe, Shitu was filming the action. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday. Deputy Registrar of West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in charge of School Registration, Mr Henry Adewumi, on Wednesday said that President Muhammadu Buhari, obtained a Cambridge University West African Examination certificate with five credits. WAEC best students Ugboaja, Alozie get full scholarship for scoring A1 in all subjects

Stephany Chizobam Ugboaja and Favor Alozie, who both scored ‘A1’ in all subjects in the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been rewarded. Emeka Ihedioha, governor of Imo, on Wednesday, awarded them full academic scholarship to study in any university of their choice. The two students, who are from the State wrote the examination alongsids over 1.6 million candidates in Nigeria. Tribunal sacks Ondo PDP House of Reps member over dual citizenship The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday nullified the election of Hon. Ikengboju Gboluga, representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal constituency in the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday, ordered the Commissioner of Police, Kano Command to produce the duplicate copy of the results of the state governorship election in his possession.  Tribunal Chairman, Halima Shamaki said the Commissioner Police, Alhaji Ahmad Iliyasu, must tender the said documents on August 5, 2019. The United States has reportedly obtained intelligence that the son and potential successor of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, Hamza bin Laden, is dead. NBC reports that officials would not provide details of where or when Hamza bin Laden died or if the U.S. played a role in his death. Asked by reporters on Wednesday whether the U.S. had information that Hamza is dead, President Donald Trump said, “I don’t want to comment on that.” Hamza bin Laden’s last known public statement was released by al Qaeda’s media arm in 2018.
